Sen. Feinsten (D-CA) proposes a Constitutional amendment to get rid of the Electoral College and have a national popular vote in its place. She proposed a similar amendment in 2004. Will it get more traction this time? One of the interesting points she makes about (against?) the current Electoral College:
* A candidate can lose in 39 states, but still win the Presidency
Of course, under her national vote proposal, a candidate could lose 49 states and still win the presidency (if, say, he or she lost each of these 49 by one vote but won the fiftieth state by one hundred votes).
